Further development on ssc scam

The situation surrounding the SSC scam in West Bengal has seen significant developments recently. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

Court Order on SSC Scam: The Calcutta High Court invalidated the appointment of 25,753 teachers and non-teaching staff made by the School Service Commission (SSC) in state-run and state-aided schools, due to irregularities in the recruitment process. The court also ordered fresh recruitment against the posts.

Nonavailability of the List: Initially, the SSC board was unable to produce a proper list of eligible candidates before the authorities, which led to the cancellation of the entire recruitment panel.

Prime Minister’s Announcement: During an election campaign in West Bengal, the Prime Minister announced that his party would form a legal cell and social platform to assist eligible candidates in getting back their jobs4. This announcement was made in response to the hardships faced by genuine candidates due to the SSC scam.

SSC Chairman’s Response: Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, the SSC chairman agreed to submit the proper list before the court to protect the jobs of eligible candidates. Earlier, the chairman had stated that the list was not available, but the change in stance came after the Prime Minister’s intervention.

Supreme Court’s Stay: The Supreme Court stayed the Calcutta High Court order that directed the CBI to probe into the role of West Bengal government officials in the teacher recruitment scam. The top court will hear the matter further.

The Prime Minister’s announcement and the subsequent agreement by the SSC chairman to submit the list suggest a political and legal push to resolve the issues stemming from the SSC scam. The legal cell and social platform are intended to provide support to the affected candidates, ensuring that those who are innocent do not suffer due to the corruption and irregularities in the recruitment process. The Supreme Court’s involvement indicates that the matter is still under judicial consideration, and further decisions are awaited.
